patio door treshold

Hi guys. Between my pvc back door garden treshold and the patio slabs there is a 3 cm gap which has been filled with concrete all around the treshold. Over the years the concrete has cracked and i want to chip it out and re-do it. What cement and (sharp sand?) ratio do you mix. Thank you for your time.

Do you think i should go for 3:1 building sand and cement? Ta.

That will be fine. A damp mix though, not dry.

i prefer building for pointing, easier to work and gives a better finish, but each to their own.
