Hi all

Can an diy person plaster a ceiling without making a mess of it

We had our living room artexed and the guy just used a roller to put the artex on which looked easy the skill cam when he started to make shapes

Can the artex just be rolled on over new plasterboard and left as a smooth finish to be painted :?:

Any ideas

if you have never done skim before there be a right mess over a boarded ceiling let alone artex.

you be better off getting a plasterer in, save you a lot of bother and heartache.

If your not a competent plasterer then going straight onto a ceiling is somewhat ambitious. Call in a pro and get a proper (hopefully) job done of it.

Put a 6'x3' sheet of p/board in your garage or shed have a go at plastering or rollering it then see what finish you get . Then imagine doing that above your head.. Easy eh?...

Picking plaster out of your hair is both painfull and pointless. Washing plaster out of your eyes also hurt's and during all this the plaster that you hopefully have got on the ceiling will be going off as your mix will be doubtfull. Get someone in

ive had the misfortune of an eyefull of plaster , not much fun in the hospital took hours of seline solution to clean my eye out, wouldnt wish it on anyone.
