Hi,

The house I have, built in the 80s, has plaster board glued onto the wall instead of it being plastered.

I'm looking the strip the wallpaper on this, but am wondering what kind of problems I may encounter

Is it worth taking down and actually plastering the walls?

Would I need to put a lining paper up, or could I just paint onto plasterboard?

Any other advice?

Thanks.

The method is called dry-lining. Large spots of adhesive is placed on the backs of the boards before they are put in place. If you remove the plaster board expect to find wiring and maybe heating pipes behind them. My daughter's house is built in this way and the boards have been hung with lining paper before painting. The walls in the kitchen and bathroom have been tiled.
