Can I use adhesive to plasterboard my ceiling rather than screws or nails?

The old lathe and plaster ceiling has now been pulled down so it would be directly on to the joists?

dry wall adhesive is used to stick plasterboards to masonry walls and could be used to stick boards to block & beam ceilings or bison concrete beams.

it is not used to fix boards to timber stud framing.

you must mechanically fix to studs using nails or screws.

regardless of whether you skim or not, you would still need to deal with the joints and screw/nail heads and this still involves a degree of skill and time.

Hi noseall

Thanks for your response, was not sure if it was the done thing or not.

Going to fix with screws then skim.

Cheers

Hi noseall

What do you reckon price wise for a skim on it 2M x 2.4M & maybe add coving?

Another question for you all if you will :)

Should I be using a enhanced fire protection rated board as its the kitchen or just normal?

Anyone know any good plasterers round the Heathrow area that would be able to help me out here?
