Whilst replacing shower cubicle/tiling client asked me to check the wiring to the power shower. Found its wired via a 3A fcu (outside bathroom)to the lighting circuit(?). The shower power rating is 130W so its got an integral pump but no heating element. Drawing a current of 0.6 A is this an acceptable arrangement under current regulations.
Thanks in advance.

It's not ideal to connect it to the lighting circuit, but as I think you've ascertained, it's within the rating of the circuit, (depending on how many lights are connected to it of course). Usually though the 3A FCU is connected to a circuit supplying sockets, lighting circuits are best just for er... lighting really.

If the pump is actually located in the bathroom it should be supplied via an RCD.

Thanks for the quick reply stem. There's an rcd on the mcu and the pump is self contained in the shower unit. The total load in the bathroom (shower +light+extractor fan) is less than 250W. I've seen more load than this on a lighting circuit ( 5 gang spot lights etc). Owner says it was installed 3 yrs ago (by an electrician!) and he's had no probs with it. I,m inclined to advise him to leave it as it is!
Thanks again
