Hi all, I am preparing to lay a new lawn in the back garden and I am wondering on the best ways of preventing weeds growing through the new lawn.

At the moment I am levelling the groung and trying to remove as many weeds as possible. However, it is, of course, going to be impossible to get up all weed roots (especially daisy and dandilion roots which are so long).

I was thinkg of getting up as much of the weeds and roots as possible and then applying a liberal amount of strong weed killer to the whole site. I am not really in favour of weed killers, but it is not as though I can remove the weeds when the lawn is down. Would this seem like a good idea?
