Prepping walls before tiling around a bath

Hi, I am about to start tiling around my bath. I have marine ply fitted around the bath and I was wondering whats best to prep the ply before i tile onto it?

People have told me to use PVA adhesive watered down. Is that right?

Nope. Tank it first.
