PRICING. CAN WE ALL AGREE ON HERE

Well YOURE one issue out of the milions of people who have saved money and had a decent service myself included is hardly representative.

Several "proper" opticians have told me that places like Specsavers are not charging enough to employ good people and have a high standard of producing glasses.

On another pair, the assistant made a mistake transposing my prescription to the dispensing form. They did agree that one though and replaced the lens.

What their "protective" law means is that if they make a balls up on meeting the prescription there is no where that can legally measure the actual lens and give you that information in writing for you to use against the despensing optician.

HHMMM I wonder why they would tell you that...........scratches head, twiddles beard, raises eyebrows

It was only later when I did a boiler repair for an optician that I found out that they have a LAW which prevents them from giving any bad infomation to anyone about other opticians! So they can hide their faults and the customer cannot get to the truth !

Sounds a bit like Solicitors again

Your solicitors in Bath are a bit slow to keep up with the times!

In London they charge from when you first ring their door bell.

Then they put you in the waiting room for 15 minutes ( I equate that to the waiting time listening to music from the boiler firms with premium rate numbers ).

I have often wondered what the solicitor is doing while you are kept waiting.

People ask for advice about what a job would entail and a rough idea of cost. No one wants a written quote.

Let me re-word what you said.
If you don't like (some of the posts on the) forum, Find a different forum and s** off to it. It's a choice thing.

As you say it, "It's a choice thing"

So don't tell people what they can or can't do. If you don't like a post, you have the choice not to respond.

Ah, excellent, well said Sally we have come full circle as per my first posting.

AS ABOVE, TAKE NOTE OF THE WORD "IGNORE"

I agree with sall2009, well put sall (not sally).

Transparency leads to honesty & common knowledge, so why should certain subjects be hidden?
A number of these DIY Q&A sites (excellent as they are) have asonishingly petty rules. The internet is for everyone and anything, get it out in the open and talk about it. TV programmes discuss building work prices so why not us? I hate pornography but you are free to watch it. I hate drugs and drink but you are free to use them.
Less rule is best rule.

I think you are missing the point ??? as explained in the O.P's original post ????

So don't tell people what they can or can't do. If you don't like a post, you have the choice not to respond.

Of course they can do as they wish and try to use a DIY forum as a price comparison site. And I can choose to respond by suggesting they and you can **** off.
