Sorry just a quick question...

I'm confused.. Do I use the tape on threads, or put compound paste on???
Or both???

Just looked in ScrewFix and they have jointing compounds, with so many names, BOSS, Boss White etc...

I just need a good join in the pipes.
thanks
PS. how many turns of tape do you need?

threads of the connectors to copper cylinder

Which are what? Compression? BSP? Unions?

Compression fittings need nothing. You might want to smear a bit of compound on the olive, but on new joints that is just to appease your own insecurities.

I'm not insecure but I do get through a tub of jet blue every week

I have always put a smear of Boss White/Water Hawk on potable, on olives, my thinking is the continued expansion/contraction will at some point cause a leak, paste will stop that leak and any phone call that goes along with it, i have never had that phone call so will continue in my ways
