question about wardrobe catches

Hi everyone

New to this forum.

In our new place the painter has removed some of the catches inside the wardrobe however I am not sure what was the mechanism in there..
It looks like a door latch..

I wouldn't normally put a door catch like that I will use a piece of wood inside the wardrobe so I wouldn't have to create those holes.

I am looking to buy the same of whatever it was there as it seems that some damage has been already done...

I wonder if they sell only the missing part anywhere or if they always come as a pair....
