Question about water supply into Hotpoint FDW60

We have a problem where everything in the top tray was still dirty at the end of the cycle. I noticed that a seal had gone on this big nut on the back wall of the dishwasher, I think this supplies the water into the arm of the top rotor blade. I have ordered a new seal. The thing that is puzzling me though, is that the top tray can be fed into the dishwasher on 2 levels - however if its on the lower of the 2 levels then this would mean the arm that feeds the top rotor blade would not line up with this input seal/water supply - or am I missing something?

The feed pipe to the top spray arm usually has two inputs from the back and depending which level you put the tray on one or other lines up.
