Hi,

this is in Glasgow. I haven't used a plumber in a long time so I don't know if this is reasonable or not, though the plumber is very well reviewed on mybuilder.com.

It is an old tank (around 25 years old) if that makes a difference.

Could anyone please comment on whether or not this sounds reasonable?

thanks,

g

Thanks for the reply. It does seem expensive in comparison. I wonder if it's because it's old?

Either way, I'll consider other options.

thanks,

g

I could do it a bit cheaper - even allowing for travel from Bristol. ;)

Seriously, sounds a bit strong. But good luck to the guy if he can hook some punters at those rates.

Is that what he charged after doing the job because you had not asked for a quote?

Thanks for the further information. I'm going to try someone else. It's still just a quote at this stage, no work has been done.

The ballcock will be about a tenner, the rest is labour.

And its about a 30 min job.
Even with a few overheads I cant see that quote being reasonable.

Thanks for letting us know the outcome - always welcome as the majority of the time we give advice but never know how things went.

Sounds a lot more reasonable, and for north Wales, probably about right.
