I am connecting up my radiator.. however the parts labeled 1 and 3 do not line up properly... This is because the part labeled 1 is angled slightly to the right.

What I wanted to ask is how I can get the part labelled 1 to line up with part 3?

Is it simply a case of loosening the part labelled 2, then turning the it?

Do I need to take an special precautions such as turning off the mains? Please note that all the valves on the radiator are off

Slackening nut 2 will allow the valve to turn slightly which should allow it to line up with the rad. Hold the valve tight as you do so! There may be a few drops of water there so have a couple of old towels ready......you can always nip 2 back up again.
It is a bit nerve wracking first time, and turning the mains off won't help.
John :)

Or slide the rad to the left. Just tap it with your hand it should slide on the bracket.
