hi all our house has combined surface and foul drainage looking to move a manhole so will have to move soil pipe and gutter down pipe can I attach the down pipe into the soil pipe thus only having one pipe to the manhole
You can, but rainwater should go into a combined drain via a trapped gulley to comply with regs. Other issue that may occur with a direct connection to the drain is the rainwater downpipe will ventilate the sewer, may find unwanted odours inside the building..... Stacks are taken up to ventilate the drain at a higher level where any odour or gases are dispersed and wont cause a nusiance, whereas the rainwater downpipe may vent the drain straight into the roofspace.....
