Hello everyone.

On supply and fit jobs (for instance supply and fit of an electric shower) is it reasonable for a customer to ask for the purchase receipt of the supplied appliance for warranty reasons and to make sure he's not being ripped off with second hand goods or such like?

No its not reasonable to ask. As Dan mentioned, they are buying from you, and so the receipt/invoice is from you. You did a quote and they accepted, so does it matter if the shower cost 80 quid and you charged 85? you cant expect people to supply stuff for same price as they got it for

In fact if you have need for a guarantee call you should do it through the installer...as legally they are the ones who have to give the guarantee...

ever wondered why we are not cheap given the poor back up from manufacturers?

the receipt for the goods you supply must never be given to a customer. You need that for the taxman.

If they wanted the purchase receipt they must supply the goods.

Ask them if when they go shopping at tesco's if they ask them for the suppliers receipts for their purchases?

There is no bloody difference
