Hiya folks I have just bought (From b&Q) A set of red oak bannisters newel posts spindles Etc.

In the store the oak was obviously waxed/oiled but it was nice and subtle and kepts much of the oaks colour.

What stuff should I use I want to keep the colour as light as possible with a Matt finish. all the shed seem to have that is close is Ronseal hardwax floor wax

Cheers folks

As you're looking to keep the banisters as natural as possible I'd definitely recommend a single pack waterbased finish - something like Aquacoat SP Matt.
The easiest way of applying it to spindles and the banister would be to take some old (clean) towelling soak and rinse it out and then wipe over the entire surface.
This is a quick and easy way to apply it and so long as it's applied thinly (more thin coats are always recommended) you'll get a great finish with excellent durability.

Good luck, if you have anymore questions please ask.
