Hi, shower was intermittent, on for 5 secs then off, eventually it would stay on, however, after a few months of this, got a spark friend in but could not identify problem, now it has given up and I cannot switch it on at all, any takers?? Thanks steve

Cancel that last bit, wife switched pull cord off without telling me, while I was working at it.

Seco services, thanks for the reply, is it a specialised job to fit a new one, as my time served electrician seemed unsure about the whole thing tbh?

No simple job, it's located next to the outlet pipe and the button, just 4 spade connection wires.

Well ive replaced the part suggested, buti still have a similar problem,,problem seemed remedied initially, butnow the shower still switches off maybe half a dozen times, then stays on with something that sound's like (but im 100% certain it isnt) water hammer for upto 5 mins, then works fine, however the latest development is tha shower wont switch off unless I pull the cord, is it time for a new shower, bit annoying as ive replaced that part, any takers? Thanks in advance for any replies

Or is there a way of bypassing phased shut down to remedy this problem, and just switch the shower to coolest setting to switch it off?

Its more temperamental than ever now, doesnt turn on first time, then on and back off, then on with stuttering water action, this is electrical cos I can see light goin on and off in new relay shutdown, any chance of a replybefore I give up and replace it

Pleas read comment above to see if you can shed any light cheers

DON'T bypass anything.

Have you tried descaling the shower internals?

No, not sure how to do that tbh, but thanks for replying :)

The only other electrical part it can be is the solenoid coil failing.
Can you check the resistance of the coil with a multi meter.
Should be 3.5 kohms.

Only check with showers power off.

Can be a pain to check when they are failing intermittently.
and you fail to get a low reading.
