I've been lucky enough to buy a house off of a lovely heating/boiler engineer and have the original system moved to vented :)

I'm thinking whether its of benefit to move the cold water tank in the loft as when reading into this it appears this is now redundant in a vented system and I could get some more space.

Questions are;

1. Is this utter rubbish (as i have zero knowledge of plumbing :))
2. How would I acheive decomissioning this (Syphon off maybe into downstairs bath?), the tank is right next to the loft opening
3. How much would it cost to get someone in to do this?

If you have a vented system then the tank/cistern is still required.

I think you are mistaken. If you have a vented system, you will need the tanks

It's unvented that doesn't

Or you could have unvented hot water. But heating system could be vented.

Sorry my mistake it is UNVENTED so straight off mains (Like a jet wash out the shower :))

OK, so the hot water system is unvented. But are you sure the tank is not feeding something else, like the boiler, or some cold taps in the bathroom or a WC? I'm concerned that you say the tank still contains water, which suggests it is still in use for something.

Push the ball valve down in the tank, if previous owner was a plumber he will have disconnected cold feed to tank if it is'nt required. If water comes out of ball valve go to plan B.
