Render depth below ground level?

Hi! I am trying to find out how far below ground level I should continue to render a building block wall in my garden?

typically, stop render 150mm above grade/ground level.
try for a "straight " line of stopped render, or use a plastic bell cast.

it will not matter a great deal for a garden wall, but a stop off point a few inches above ground level won't hurt.

at least it will prevent any unwanted salts wicking into the render.
