Whilst having an electrical inspection the sparky raised the point that the light circuit in the under stair cupboard is missing the earth connection as the wiring is so old. The current circuit is a twin and earth from the Consumer unit to a junction box - then an old Live/Neutral cable to the switch and then another old Live/Neutral cable to the light.

Question is can i replace the cable and switch in the same configuration or do I have to redo the circuit as per shown in the Wiki section?

You can wire it in the same method, thats fine.

Just note that there isnt a neutral at the switch, its a switched live. Make sure the blue wire is sleeved or taped brown to identify this.

If the junction box is accessible for future inspection and testing and not buried or under floors or in ceilings.
You can replace old cable for new Twin and earth in same configuration.

Thanks guys, all working now and the junction box is accessible so no problems there.
