Hi,

My property borders on a road seperated by a public pavement.
There is currently a very tatty chainlink fence of about 4' high.

I'd like to replace this with a 6' wooden panel fence and basically need to know if I have to get planning permission or not?

My suspicion is yes but I'd be interested in opinions.

Cheers,

Will

if it borders a highway then its limited to 1m without planning, even if its replacing existing. you may get planning for it though, many do. speak to the planning dept.

I would also say you would need permission.
Don't take a risk a check with them anyway, in both case you'll be good.
Good luck
