Hi All , great forum btw
I am currently repointing my 1960's semi and have a question of what to do with the mortar at thr dpc level . I am using 3 to 1 mix of sand and cement below this level , but am not sure how to cope with the dpc course . I am using a mortar rake to make sure i am getting the reponiting to the correct depth , but obviously I am not wanting to do this at the dpc level as this will destroy the black plastic dpc . Please can anybody help with this problem .
Many thanks in advance
Glenn

Use 4:1 sand and cement!! I'm assuming that the bricks are visible, you could try an old drill and small bit and work along the joints, I would say you need at least an inch depth, anything less and the joint will fall out in the near future, also mix a waterproofer in the mix to make it more workable, and brush out the joints and dampen before repointing.
