Hi - I have recently been given a Hi-Fi that was bought in Japan and want to re-wire the 2-pin plug to a UK 3-pin plug - but not sure on wiring.
There are two wires - Brown and Blue - do these correspond to UK wire colouring i.e. brown to live and blue to neutral?
Any advice/help gratefully received! :?:

Japan uses 100v , we use 230v, no can do, unless you can obtain a suitable step-down transformer

a lot of japanese stuff is rated for 100-230v because most of asia uses 230v. Hence if it is rated for this then brown is live and blue is neutral.

no earth as its double insulated

and if you are really lucky you my find a voltage-adjuster on the bac. On some Sony stuff I have it is like a round knob that clicks as it rotates, there is an arrow pointing to the voltage that you have selected.
