Roof- Small tiles or big tiles?

Hi all,

We are replacing our roof for the whole house,its a detached 4bed house with 3 dormers(2side and1 rear).can someone suggest which roof tiles are good to choose and how can we make sure that our builder is using good quality tiles? also we want togo for small tiles instead of big ones and my builder says its going to be double the price compared to big tiles and also extra work to lay them? is that right?

Please advise. we are new to this building process and totally confused with many things.

Maybe not double but considerably more yes also depends on the tiles you are chosing between.
