Good Afternoon, are there any roofing experts out there?
I am hoping someone will be able to help me.

I have an old house and in trypical pre war style the mortar torchings on the underside of the roof on the batens are in need of replacement.

The roof is in decent condition the timbers are fine and the slates are also in good nick.

My question is this: Do I simply replace with another fresh mortar mix or is there anything else on the market that can be used that is easy to apply, less messy and longer lasting/more effective etc etc??

Any suggestions from some experts would be very much appreciated.
Thanks a lot

It was always done in a lime mortar mix with horse hair added to the mix.
This is the type of material to use, done properly it will last many years.

I would not bother doing anything as bits always drop out over time, nothing to worry about.
