Room thermostat doesn't seem to be switchin off

Just had plumber fix central heating valve etc room thermostat comes on when below desired temp but just wondering what the norm is in heating whole house to that temp as seems to be taking forever over an hour and doesn't seem to switch off have to click room thermostat for it to go off also green light on worcester greenstar light stays on forever over an hour is this the norm or do you think room thermostat needs changing
