Dear all, some rot damage has appeared on the side of a bathroom cupboard where it meets the basin surround. The cupboard was put in 6 years ago. The rot is just above the silicone seal. The panel is made of some type of composite wood material. Any ideas on how to repair it would be appreciated. Many thanks. View media item 83545 View media item 83546 [/img]

Looks like moisture has got into the cut edge under the silicon , probably mdf, no lasting repair will work as it will continue to expand. Replacement is the best option if you want it to be permanent.

As above, it is not rot.

Its a composite wood panel, made of glued together fibres, the glue has failed and so it has swelled.

You could sand it flat and re-seal, but best to replace and look after it better next time (or don't use MDF in bathrooms).

Many thanks for your replies. That's another job on the list of things for me to do.

Thanks again for your help.
