evening all, just got the floorboards up and am starting to route some TV coax cable from a distribution amp to various outlets. I've got a 28mm gas pipe in one area and I've been running my coax next to this to make use of the chunky notches the plumber put in the joists. All fine, then it occurred to me that strapping a load of conductors to a gas pipe might not be a great idea, given that these cables ultimately connect to a roof aerial. I'm thinking lightning strikes, and where do I want that energy to go if the aerial gets hit - not along the gas pipe presumably. Does anyone know if there are any rules/guidance on this? Maybe I'm being over cautious but opinions welcome, TIA

To be honest I probably wouldnt worry too much, personally I would have drilled 16mm holes in the joists away from the pipe.

I dont think theres any regulations that cover co-ax's but there may be some to do with the actual gas pipe.

I'd leave it as is (but wouldnt cable tie to the pipes) as the chances of current passing from the cable to pipe are unlikely!

thanks londonboy. wasn't happy with the gas pipe so I've moved the coax. gotta get it right as these floorboards are going back soon never to be lifted again ..... ever
