A Demolition Job:
My best pal Mike got a job to demolish a monster of a steel tank about 40 foot high. Mike wanted it down as quick as possible - so he decides to use an Oxy-Acetylene torch to cut around its legs and lower casing in order to drop it on to its side - then - once it had been cut free the plan was for a Drott loading shovel to push it over onto the ground making it easier for the men to cut it into smaller pieces.
After it was cut free from it's base the Drott was brought around and the driver told to shove it over, it collapsed onto it's side as planned, but totally unexpected it then starts to roll down a slight slope and after gathering speed continues further and collides with a nearby bungalow - demolishing it.
This happened over 50 years ago, and this incident might well explain why Mike decided it might be best to go to South Africa to explore demolition jobs out there. This incident was shown on the TV news channels and the house owner interviewed about his lucky escape.
