Samsung SH895M recorder problem

I've had this problem since I bought this recorder, where the bloody thing records whatever the program is, but screws the aspect ratio up by using whatever format is received before the program starts. so if theres an advert on in widescreen and the progam is in 4:3 then it screws it up and the tv cant tell what format to use.

Iv'e done the firmware updates but hasn't fixed it, I have to adjust the telly setiings to accomodate samsung's pain in the ass recorder.

I'm surfing on my phone and have no internet access but can I download opensource code to modify the firmware?
or is there another way I can stop it messing up the aspect ratio?

I've had this problem since I bought this recorder

So it's still under warranty? Take it back for repair or replacement. Take a recording that shows the problem.
