Hi,

I have read a few threads about tiling on a wooden bathroom floor. I am going to rip up the chipboard in my bathroom put noggins in where needed and then cover with 25 mm WBP PLY. Some threads suggest sealing the underside and edges of the ply before fixing to the joists. Can you advise on a suitable sealant please?

Any SBR primer will do the trick. Either BAL Bond or Palace Tilers Primer....... or Tilemaster Prime Plus........ and Dunlop Universal Bonding agent..... Norcros Prime Bond is another one...... so is Everbuild SBR...... and Ultra Prime It......

Guessing theres a few more but these are the ones I know of.

OP, is your bathroom clear of all fixtures eg bath and WC.
Have you thought through any consequences of the final finished raised floor?

Two building trade myths appear in your post.
1. that chipboard is not suitable for a tile subfloor.
Its fine if properly fixed down and the correct thickness.
2. that WBP is worth paying for.
25mm WBP is a con in most domestic situations - unless you are building a boat in the living room (not unknown)
any CDX ply will substitute.
