I've replaced an outdoor security light with sensor as it was going on/off intermittently with nothing activating the sensor. The replacement worked fine for a day but the following morning was behaving the same way i.e. just coming on and then going off, When it goes on, it doesn't even stay on for the requisite time e.g. 30 seconds. It just literally comes on and goes off after about 2 seconds. Any advice?

Turn the timer up to maximum and see if that cures it - trying to set the timer too low sometimes causes problems.
Make sure the sensor isn't being affected by trees or reflections from other light sources.
Alternatively check your fcu switch to see if any of the cables are loose.
