I've looked through the threads here and note the recommended method of blocks and bearers.

My shed will be 2.9m wide and 2.1m deep. The joists run in the direction of the longest dimension and are about 40cm apart. So the bearers will be 2.1m long, would a block at each end and one in the middle be enough support for each? How far apart should they be, if we had 4 bearers they would be about 1m apart, is that too much?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Lay a concrete or a slab base about 1 foot bigger than the shed (all round) and you can't go wrong.

despite all thats written here and all the complicated methods people come up with, we always put them on a simple concrete base, laid with a slight fall, with the bearers sitting on some dpc. Never have a problem with it and its what most manufacturers recommend

To answer the question........

To be on the safe side ensure the shed joists are supported no more than 600mm in every direction. assuming they are about 75x50 ish.

As for bearers, six 3x3 fence posts onto concrete blocks or paving slabs.

All assuming this is a shop bought jobbie and is a shed to be used as a shed, and not a full engineering workshop.

Thanks deluks.

In this instance we don't want to lay a solid base. The site is across a slope and is quite wet, we don't want to interfere with the drainage if it can be avoided.
