Hi all,

Recently when pulling down on the shower pull switch, it no longer turns the red light on. And as a result the shower is not coming on. I'm no expert but I'd say it's knackered and might need replacing. Unless there's a quick fix? What's the cost of fixing/replacing?

Thanks in advance :?:

Its an hour of somebody's time, plus a new switch

That is assuming the problem is a broken switch. It could be a lot of other things.

Like no power is actually getting to the switch in the first place.
Do you have a test meter?

Most likely cause is a faulty switch or a loose connection which can result in heat damage to the cable ends. This is quite common.

Have you checked the circuit breaker or fuse?

Does the pull cord isolator also have a sliding on/off indicator? If so is that operating correctly?
Could be a number of things.
Loose connection if it's clicking when pulled.
If it's not clicking, it's possible either switch is knackered or some sh@t from the ceiling has dropped in to the switch mechanism and jammed it.

Just to let you all know, a mate of mine recently started doing 'on the side' work. Anyway he had a look at the shower and straight away knew that the bottom bit of the switch box would need replacing. He went down to B&Q and bought a new cord and switch box and fitted it for me and charged mates rate (£25). Job done. :D
