sink taps

I have just replaced the kitchen sink with a new one, it has a single tap (instead of the old 2). I used silver 15mm flexi connectors fitted with stop valves.
The problem is that now the cold tap whenever turned on wails like a banshe every time, no matter what pressure of water coming out.
Its feed straight from the main riser in the house.

Any suggestions as to why and how to fix, would be great.

Some stop valves do this, if hitting it with a hammer doesn't work, change it.
