Hi Guys

Reading up on the construction methods of timber suspended floors, there seem to be different views on what span requires sleeper walls. Can anyone tell me whether sleeper walls will be necessary for joist spanning a 3m rear extension, so I guess the timbers would be 2.7m?

I suppose to play it safe, whilst minimising the amount of work, could I not use a long piece of timber running perpindicular to the joists, midway along the span supported on either end using joists onto the wall and perhaps a pillar midway?

Thanks

Thanks gents, will ask the architect to specify coorect joist sizes in his design, I just wanted to understand whether it was clear that these would not be needed for this span.

C16 at 400 centres will require 47x125 regulised to 120 and will span 2.67.
C16 at 600 centres will require 47x150 regulised to 145 and will span 2.77, but you will require 22mm boards with these.
You can either go timber to masonry joist hangers, or providing cavity walls, build in on split level DPC
