Hi everyone,

Investigated my drainage today.
It seems my kitchen waste eg w/mc and sink go into what I believe is called a Gully trap??
I had a poke around in the gully to see if I could find the exit pipe.
After a while I discovered a big black plastic blanking plug on the exit pipe entrance.
Should this be there and what purpose does it serve if so?
Thanks
Tim

:confused:

Is the gully you refer to outside and your waste pipe drains into it?

MORE INFO PLS

Yeah it is sorry.
The plug type object is part of the gulley.

In summary;
Washing mc has own pipe running into gulley
Sink waste and condense waste (pipe flows into trap) flow into the gulley also on a seperate pipe.

I have removed the plug in a hope that this will clear the smell, especially now there is some air getting down in it.

the plug you talk about is probably the trap by-pass. it is removable to facilitate cleaning the gulley bottom and should be replaced.

all gulleys smell after a while. a squirt of bleach and a blast with a hose on a regular basis keep them clean.
