steel bath

Hi i am just about to fit a new steel bath and there is slight damage to the enamel at one of the tap holes and i am worried when i tighten the taps down the enamel might crack or chip is there anything i can do to stop this i will be using taps from the old bath.

The first thing you should think about doing is returning the Bath. If this is not possible for whatever reason then I suggest you spend £20 and get a DIY bath chip repair kit.

These kits are pretty good, they comprise of a two part filler/Hardener which obvioulsy fills the damaged area, once dry it is sanded with wet and dry paper, then the filler is sprayed with an enamel coating.
 
Agreed, send it back. You never know the extent of the faulty enamel.
 
can't send it back it was bought of ebay i don't think the damage will show past the tap i am just worried when i tighten them up it might chip if tighten it to much.
