Stupid Question - how does this fence post repair work?!

all metal spikes are rubbish. I had a similar job (just one) where I used an extra-long large drill into the rotted stump, to my surprise I was able to pull it out. I had intended to drill it to fraghments like a dentsit. I presume it had shrunk a bit since the concrete was cast, or possibly the heat from the drill dried it out a bit, it did not feel loose before. In my case I then slid a concrete spur down the hole (it fitted) as I prefer them.

how does it work.....badly. there only good for scrap metal in my opinion.

take the old one out and concrete in a new one

cut flush to the top of the concrete and hammer the boot into the hole.. it should wedge between the old post stump and the concrete..
