Looking for Smoke and heat alarms for the house.
Wired, relay, average price.

But most importantly doesn't make it look like a student house/ cheap B&B
i.e. Aico EI151

There must be decent reliable Smoke Alarms that actually look nice.

Thanks

So's your car, getting you to work etc.
But whilst doing a job it can look nice too.

My climbing rope and harness are there to save lives too, yet the companies bring out different versions each year with different colour schemes that look nice.
I don't think the purple in my harness saves me from falling anymore than a plain black one.

People go to so much trouble to design nice houses and rooms, choosing mirrors, sofas, rugs curtains, tv's all with practical functions but also all nicely designed, so why not the Smoke alarm too?

I imagine your house looks like a 1960's east german workers party, utilitarian paradise, all concrete, straight lines, fully functional, but no design allowed :)

The Nest Protect, for example look nice, but are out of my price range.

Something like this

Would be a lot nice than the ones I have seen.
Of course as long as they pass the standards and work well.

I would not trust that device, unless there is a fan to pull air through the sensor chamber because with those small holes there is nothing to encourage smoke to enter the sensing chamber.

How about an aspirating system with capillary detection.

What size area are you looking to protect?

The house is a regular Semi
14ft x 14ft most rooms downstairs.

As I have an open plan kitchen/diner, then through french doors to a front room with log burner would it be

Kitchen - Heat Detector
Diner - Smoke alarm
Front Room - Smoke with Carbon Monoxide
??

What wired smoke alarms do people suggest?
