We are renovating out house and are putting in block and beam floor on the first floor, its a stone building with 18" thick walls, we need to put a gap in the floor for some stairs and a gas for a cassette aircon unit in the middle of the ceiling, i was wondering can you support a beam off another beam 90° to it, See pic, couldnt think of any other way of doing it other than having loads of rsj strung under the ceiling, unless they do some kind of joist hanger?

The concrete Tee beams are not generally intended for point loads. Beyond that, no-one here would be able to advise because only the manufacturer of the system will know the strength of the beams.
You should ask the supplier of the system. They usually give you drawings of the floor layout and suggest if and where steel beams may be needed for timming.

No you don't faff about with RSJ etc you get yourself the trimmers from your supplier eg

As mentioned, your manufacturer should have done a drawing and specified all this.

freddy,
Very interested in the steel trimmer angles that you posted.
Have hunted all round the web for a supplier and technical information.

Can not find any, therefore could you please point me in the direction where you found this information.
Many thanks.
Regards oldun

Ta very much Fred. Appreciate you taking the time. Found what we were looking for at Leroc Products.
Must confess, we have used Longley shoes. but never knew that a steel trimmer was available.
