I've just taken up the quarry tiles in the kitchen of my 20's semi.
some of them had cracked and many were uneven. The floor under the tiles is like a soft concrete about 1/2 inch thick, (more or less in places). It's bedded on well compacted hardcore but, not suprisingly has broken up in a few places.
I just can't face digging it all out to replace it with a new insulated concrete slab so I was wondering what my options might be. I have 10mm of space were the tiles were.
I was considering trying a modern synthetic floor screed which can be layed at a depth of 5mm or so.
I would appreciate any comments.
