Hello,

I have just purchased one of these table saws: http://www.toolstop.co.uk/scheppach...v-complete-with-sliding-side-extension-p64143

And as stated in the video it has two extraction ports one on the crown and one at the back. I am looking at purchasing a wet and dry vac from Wickes (link below) as it has good reviews and I cant seem to find anything which is not spare parts on markets near me at the moment.

A link to the Wickes wet and dry vac can be found here: http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Wet+Dry-Vacuum-with-Blower/p/215735

My question is does it matter if I use just one of the extraction ports or is it better to use both? If both is there anything I need to purchase to connect them both together that will work with the Wickes vac?

Thanks

James

I have a deWalt DW745 as my site saw. It has a main extraction port at the rear and a secondary extraction port on the crown guard a bit like your saw. It wprks OK-ish with just the main port attached to a vacuum, but it is noticeably better if a Y-piece is fitted to the end of the main hose and two shorts are run to the two outlets. Still not 100% but a noticeble improvement. Can't remember who made mine - possibly Metabo - but it should be possible to find something like I'd have thought (possibly from Trend, Mirka, etc). My hose connectors are 35mm

My larger table saw has a flexi hose [spare vacuum hose or drainage hose from the garden centres should be a fit]from the crown port down under to the other port, you could do that and fix a T piece from a plumbers merchant [found the 40mm push fit waste fits my vacuum cleaner quite well] though 90% of the waste seems to fall thru to the bottom so just the bottom port connected should work well. You will need to empty the vacuum at nearly every use as they kick out lots of saw dust.

this type of thing but you only need a metre or so.

Pop into aldi and see if they have one of their £50 wet and dry vacuums

They have a mains outlet that automatically tells the vacuum to come on and delays the auto off
