TDS Meter Reading ??

We've had a 7 Stage Reverse Osmosis System in use now 5 years.. At Installation it was Recommended we change out the 3 main Filters once a year and the 4 other Filters to follow in the 5th Year... What I'm curious about is the TDS Meter Reading (9)I'm told the Reading dictates all 7 Filters are Fine and No Need to Change Out till maybe Summer 2017.. Can anyone Define the (9) TDS Meter Reading?? Please & Thank You
