Sickened teen wakes up to the sound of termites gnawing through her new Argos bed
Cassie Hindry was thrilled with her new bed, a gift from her father when they moved house.
But five weeks of blissful sleep later she woke in the middle of the night to hear an ominous scratching sound in her room.
Fearing the worst, the family called in pest exterminators who discovered her new bed was teeming with termites.
Her father John, who bought the £300 leather-look double bed from Argos, has since had to spend more than £1,000 having the house fumigated.
I think that the owner of the house should sue the pest exterminators.
The article went on to say that the insects had been identified as the powder post beetle.
This insect is not a termite and will only attack timbers which have a high starch content, almost invariably hardwoods.
Very few houses in this country contain hardwood structural timbers
In any event the treatment required in the very unlikely event that you would get a termite infestation in this country, is completly different from that for wood boring insects.
What a con, you would have thought that the mail would have checked the facts before printing, but then again maybe not
