Textured coatings on external walls?

Hi

Looking for ADVISE ON HOW TO GET TEXTURED COATINGS.

How its done etc. My Husband has been asked if he can render a wall but they want the wall to have a textured coating.

If there special stuff that is needed to do this etc....?
