Question time....on now.

Some young girl who would have been in nappies if she was even born when thatcher was in power, (25 years ago now). wow the vehemence in her voice regarding Maggie.

Give me some leeway here, when Maggie was in power I wasn't interested in current events

The things I remember specifically were......

Taking on the miners who were holding the country to ransome
Introducing the right to buy
Demanding and getting out rebate back from the eu
and trouncing the argies.

I'm not a conservative, these are the memories I have of the time.
I remember the car plants coming out at the drop of a hat and other unions flexing their muscles and Maggie taking them on.

Oh if she were only here to take on the bloated public sector !!!!!

(The Times recently stated that the main groups going in to the higher tax Bracket were teachers and policemen !)

So what were the real bad things Maggie did.....I lived through the times and I can't recall how bad things were under her !

Ps a slight aside ~ guess how many times Blair took this country to war .....? Before you google the answer. You might be surprised.

It's traditional for blinkered lefties to only dwell on the negative aspects of anything. She made mistakes, but those who don't make mistakes, usually don't make anything. She stood up for this country when others, especially the cowards in power now, wouldn't have had any backbone.

She was far from perfect, but she was the right person for the times. More balls than Major, Blair, Cameron put together. Not really someone to be liked, but maybe respected for her strength.

All the answers to your questions are out there, you just need to look.
I'm biased because I hate the women and what she stood for.
John Pilger on his web site gives some interesting info.
There is also an independent film that gives you an insight into what Thatcher did to the miners and why she did it, Its very moving and makes you realise the hate that she and her kind had and still have for working people.

Or to put it another way:
Building up vast stocks of coal, then goading the miners into striking (Scargill claimed that the Thatcher intended to destroy the British coal industry, he was criticised for saying so, but he was right, and she did)

Destroying the stock of Social housing (much of it is now in the hands of private landlords) by forcing councils to sell it off a loss, and preventing them from building more.

Creating a hostile relationship with our European neighbours

Reducing the Royal Navy's presence in the Southern hemisphere to save money, which gave the South American fascist dictatorship the impression that UK had lost interest in retaining the Falklands, leading to a costly and unnecessary war.

She was also very friendly with a lot of dictators who had killed thousands of ordinary people. Also very friendly with Jimmy Saville for some reason.

By 1970, when the tories were elected, there was just 300 pits left.
Under Wilsons previous rule one pit closed every week.

Google wrote...
But when Arthur Scargill appeared before a Parliamentary committee and was asked at what level of loss it was acceptable to close a pit he answered “As far as I can see, the loss is without limits.”

Once again a dim-witted left wing socialist wanted billions of tax payers money pumped into a failing industry.

Im not going through the other nonsense in your post as I know Mr Searl has ripped you to pieces on those points before.

Crazy economic policies based on a poor understanding of the Monetarist doctrine, leading to high interest rates, which crushed industry and, through 15% mortgages, drove many young homeowners into bankruptcy and homelessness.

Abolishing democratically elected councils and seizing their property, selling off much of it.

Trebling unemployment

Doubling VAT

Wiping out Britain's manufacturing and engineering heartland

Tearing the railway system to shreds

Nonsense.

Norcon fails to find any evidence to support his foolish denial.

ZZZzzzzzzz
Evidence? Ooh where for art thou?

Where is your evidence that thatcher destroyed the coal mining industry?

Google wrote.
"When a political leader dies it becomes compulsory to lie about their record."

Is that what you do Jd?

Due to lack of mental capacity, Norcon fails to grasp the fact that Google is not a person or a source.

Due to his ignorance and stupidity, Norcon alleges that it is "nonsense" that under Thatcher's reign, the increase in unemployment, from less than a million, to more than three million, constitutes "trebling unemployment"

So don't you agree that when you make a claim you should be able to back it up with evidence?
You have made a dozen claims above and shown no evidence.

This for example...
Scargill claimed that the Thatcher intended to destroy the British coal industry, he was criticised for saying so, but he was right, and she did)

Where is your evidence?

Sadly Norcon is unable to count, and does not know what a "dozen" is.

If he had the wit to look up UK's VAT rates, he would have found:

"Conservative Chancellor Geoffrey Howe increased the standard rate of VAT from 8% to 15% .... The rate remained unchanged until 1991, when Conservative Chancellor Norman Lamont increased it from 15% to 17.5%.

During the 1992 general election the Conservatives promised not to extend the scope of VAT, but, in March 1993, Lamont announced that domestic fuel and power, which had previously been zero-rated, would have VAT levied at 8% from April 1994 and the full 17.5% from April 1995"

Hasn't it ever occurred to you that when a business fails people go on the dole?
Mrs T just speeded up the process.

Norcon is seemingly incapable of connecting Cause and Effect
