Thermostatic Valve Head Snapped Off :-(

Hi everyone,

One of my sons snapped the head of the thermostatic valve on a radiator I his bedroom. What do I need to replace it, is it a simple job I could do myself?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I was going to say just get a head...it's a xxx, but I searched and cannot match it. I guessed someone here might recognise it. (I am not in the trade just a d-i-y'er).
Failing getting a new head, you'll need to replace the whole valve with it's new head. You'll need a 10mm version or at least one that comes with a 10mm adapter.

I don't recognise that head. Probably best to replace it as suggested. The only TS brand I can find is Tapstore.

That looks similar to my old ones, apart from the name and a 'button' on the top of mine. I only have one left in use in the house, but have just found 2 old ones stashed in the garage. This is the cleanest:

If anyone can confirm it will your your base you can have it. Just be aware it's sat in the garage for 10 years so may be siezed and it's covered in paint.

Its a giacomini atlas head

The plastic heads have changed over the years but the valve body is the exact same.


A very good and very cheap trv in its day.
