Hi, can anyone help me?

My husband decided he would fix the dripping kitchen tap one morning, switching the water off. I came along and flushed the toilet not realising this, and ever since the water continuously runs into the bowl as if the inlet valve doesn't work.
I have a Bathstore s-frame dual flush cistern bought 3 years ago.

Can anyone explain what may have happened?

There are two possibilities here.....either the water inlet valve is constantly allowing water to pass, or the flush valve (if its not the syphon type) has decided not to seal for a while.
If you can get the cistern lid off, and you notice that its full, its the inlet valve fault allowing water to constantly flow in, so the overflow allows water into the toilet bowl.
Nothing to do with previous work - just a coincidence really!
John :)
