What are your toothache remedies?

I went out for a meal last night and came back with horrendous toothache. I bit into an onion bhajji and must have had a bit stuck in a cavity and had to suffer over 2 hrs of pain.

I had about 6 Ibuprofen and 4 Paracetamol but could not get any relief.

I had the foresight to remove the residue and finally obtained relief but the pain truly was horrible. Dentist tomorrow for me.

What is effective for next time as the tablets were useless!?

Not sure if you can still buy it but as a kid I always used 'Tincture of Myrrh'

The cloves work me-old-Mum used to give us a clove to put in our mouth next to the tooth feels hot but seemed to work, long term though bad for your teeth, so trip to the dentist due!

Cloves were the main remedy in the Elizabethan era ;)

Have heard that holding an aspirin in your mouth next to the tooth works too.

Paracetamol on it's own does not do much. You need one with codeine added -
Tesco do one with 5mg added but not much good. Co-codamol has 8mg which is better. I think Solpadeine has 12mg - even better.

Last night I took 6 ibuprofen and 6 paracetamol in the space of an hour!

Still no relief. I ended up chewing 2 whole fresh clove buds which did work.

Had to have the tooth out this morning.

£50 now for an extraction!

Wheres that toothbrush!

Glad you are sorted, 50 quid well spent I reckon!

Still at least dentistry has come on a bit since Elizabethan times! ;)
